BEIRUT: The Italian Bilateral Military Mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) has concluded an advanced training program for the Lebanese Presidential Guard brigade.

A ceremony took place at the premises of the Command Brigade in the presence of the Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Massimo MAROTTI, the Military Attaché, Col. Massimiliano SFORZA, MIBIL Commander Col. Stefano LAGORIO and Lebanese military authorities, to mark the conclusion of the two advanced courses “Close Protection Team” and “Close Quarter Battle."

The four-week courses allowed 50 members of the Presidential Guard, among which 25 women, to be trained by Italian instructors from the GIS Carabinieri (Special Intervention Unit); thus acquiring advanced operational skills and enhancing close protection and close quarter battle techniques.

In his speech, Ambassador Marotti stressed that “Italy’s cooperation with Lebanon in the defence field is based on knowledge and mutual respect.

"We share a common vision of the values, objectives and professional skills of modern Armed Forces called upon to serve the Constitution, the State and the citizens and to ensure defence and stability as well”.
