BEIRUT: A Muslim cleric killed a man in Minieh, North Lebanon Saturday night, after hearing him say what he claimed to be blasphemous words.

Social media users shared the news mentioning that after the cleric heard Mohamad Dhaybi saying "back off my God" to a supermarket owner, he called his relatives and killed him using a sharp knife outside the supermarket.

Dhaybi's brother announced to local media outlets that the victim was complaining about expensive prices by saying these words.

While social media users posted that the cleric "removed Dhaybi's heart and cut it into pieces", his brother confirmed that he was thrown in a nearby village, and most of his body parts were cut.

A trending hashtag dominated Facebook and Twitter in Lebanon on Monday, expressing anger over what social media users called a "vicious crime"
