BEIRUT: Clashes erupted late on Tuesday between supporters of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) and Lebanese Democratic Forces (LDP) in Choueifat, Aley, killing one PSP member.
Both sets of Druze supporters clashed in the late hours of the afternoon before the Lebanese army intervened and restored stability to the area.
PSP leader Walid Jumblatt and LDP head Talal Arslan released a joint statement calling for supporters to show restraint.
"The elections are now over, let us turn a new page and stop the situation from escalating further."
The PSP and LDP ran candidates on opposing lits during Sunday's parliamentary elections.
Arslan's son El Mir Arslan joined forces with the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah, while Jumbaltt's son Teymour formed a coalition with the Lebanese Forces and Future Movement.
