Israeli forces withdrew from the village of Ofania in the northern countryside of Quneitra on Wednesday evening, after advancing into the area for several hours and firing flare bombs.

A reporter for Syria’s state-run SANA news agency in Quneitra said an Israeli force made up of 15 military vehicles and more than 60 personnel entered the village, deployed throughout it, closed its entrances, and set up a checkpoint that cut the road between Khan Arnabeh and Ofania using four military vehicles.

The force later withdrew.

The incursion coincided with Israeli forces firing flare bombs and two artillery shells toward the vicinity of Tal al-Ahmar–Ain al-Nouri in the northern countryside of Quneitra.

Israel continues to violate the 1974 disengagement agreement by advancing into southern Syria, conducting raids and arrests, and leveling land, the report said.

Syria has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory, stressing that all measures taken in southern Syria are null and void and have no legal effect under international law.

It has called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in deterring Israel’s actions and obliging it to withdraw completely from southern Syria.
