Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in the Middle East with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, with both leaders calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
The Kremlin stated: "During the phone call, the situation arising from the unprecedented escalation of the conflict in the Middle East was discussed."
Both sides stressed the need for an immediate halt to hostilities and the importance of reaching political and diplomatic agreements that fully respect the interests of all countries in the region.
According to the statement, they also discussed significant investment projects in the energy and industrial sectors during their phone call.
