Israeli army forces demolished on Tuesday the historic “Golan Hospital,” also known as “Al-Hajar,” in the city of Quneitra. This landmark is among the city’s most significant architectural and historical sites.

The hospital is one of the few remaining witnesses to the widespread destruction that struck Quneitra between 1967 and 1974, with its ruins symbolizing the systematic vandalism that followed the evacuation of the city’s residents, according to local journalists.

Quneitra’s significance stems from its role as the command center for Syrian forces in the Golan Heights during the 1967 War, before Israeli forces captured it on June 10, in the conflict’s final days.

The city remained under Israeli control for six years, during which it suffered extensive burning, looting, and bombing, until Syria regained control in 1974. The scars of that destruction remain visible today.

In a related development, Israeli forces have reportedly advanced into several towns in the Quneitra countryside, amid intense reconnaissance flights and continued presence at military sites in the area.
