The Governor of the Syrian Central Bank, Abdul Qadir Al-Hasriya, confirmed Thursday that no official reports have been received by the Central Bank from any bank, financial institution, or individual regarding cases of counterfeiting of the new currency.

In a Facebook post, he said: “If we are notified by a bank or financial institution about a counterfeiting case, it is addressed immediately in cooperation with the specialized authorities at the Ministry of Interior.”

He stressed that all information circulating on social media and in public discussions remains unconfirmed rumors, stemming from misunderstanding, fear, or confusion, and is not based on any official source.

Al-Hasriya added that verifying information is everyone’s responsibility, calling on the public not to be misled by unreliable news and to rely only on statements issued by the Syrian Central Bank.

He also urged citizens to report any suspected counterfeiting cases so they can be handled immediately.
