Jewish Syrian community buys central Jerusalem towers in record Israel deal
New York-based community acquires residential units for 200 families in billion-shekel Jerusalem investment
A Jewish Syrian community in New York City has purchased two residential towers in central Jerusalem, in what SNIR Real Estate Agency CEO Nir Shmoul described as “the largest deal in Israel to date,” according to Hebrew media reports.
In an interview with Channel 12 News, Shmoul estimated the transaction’s value at over one billion shekels.
The acquisition provides housing for roughly 200 families, though Shmoul said it is unlikely the entire community will relocate to Israel immediately, noting that “their children might serve in the army or study here.”
Syrian-Israeli relations remain complex, and the two countries have yet to reach a formal security agreement despite diplomatic efforts. Nevertheless, global Jewish investors holding various citizenships continue to invest in Israel.
