The number of casualties from Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon has increased to 1,953 people killed and 6,303 injured, as debris removal continues and search operations are still underway for those missing.

Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike this Saturday morning on the city of Nabatieh and another strike targeting the Zefta highway in southern Lebanon.

It also targeted the area around the town of Zawtar, as well as the vicinity of Tebnine Governmental Hospital.

Israel had previously announced that it would not discuss a ceasefire with Hezbollah during the direct talks scheduled with the Lebanese government next week in Washington.

The Israeli ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, and his Lebanese counterpart, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, held a phone call during which they agreed to meet on Tuesday at the headquarters of the US State Department.
