The International Football Federation (FIFA) has significantly increased the maximum price of the 2026 World Cup final ticket, less than three months before the tournament begins in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The 2026 World Cup will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, featuring 48 teams participating for the first time in history.

The Guardian reported that the new ticket prices have risen significantly compared to the previous wave of sales, with the most expensive final tickets reaching $8,680. The increases also affected the cheaper categories, as second-category tickets rose to $7,380 from $5,575 last December, while third-category tickets reached $5,785 compared to $4,185 previously.

FIFA is using a dynamic pricing system for the 2026 World Cup, a controversial model in which ticket prices fluctuate based on demand.

FIFA confirmed that the profits from the 2026 World Cup will be used to support grassroots football around the world.

The ticket sale faced technical glitches when the booking window opened, as FIFA did not specify the available matches or price categories, forcing fans to search the website—a process that took hours for some users.

FIFA noted that this phase allows, for the first time, the purchase of specific seats inside stadiums rather than requesting a general category.

Conversely, Infantino praised the sales process so far, noting in January that FIFA had received “enough requests to fill a thousand World Cup editions at once.”
