US envoy: Iran close to nuclear bomb, global diplomacy intensifies
US envoy Steve Witkoff made a series of statements addressing Iran’s nuclear file, developments in the war in Ukraine, and the situation in Gaza, pointing to expected diplomatic moves.
Witkoff said that Iran’s uranium enrichment “goes far beyond civilian nuclear purposes,” considering that Donald Trump is exerting pressure on Tehran during the nuclear talks. He added that Iran “may be one week away from producing a nuclear bomb, and we will not allow that,” stressing that it must prove it “will behave properly.”
Regarding the Gaza Strip, Witkoff pointed to plans to provide housing and public transportation, without offering further details on how the plan would be implemented or which party would be responsible for the project.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, he expressed optimism, saying that the world “will hear good news in the coming weeks.” He revealed that he had received positive signals from Vladimir Putin, who he said “has always been straightforward” and had informed Washington of his red lines. He also explained that proposals have been put forward that could lead to a summit bringing together Trump, Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
These statements come at a time when the three international files — Iran’s nuclear program, the war in Ukraine, and the humanitarian situation in Gaza — are witnessing increased diplomatic activity amid anticipation of any potential political breakthrough.
