The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that the Internal Security Directorate in Jableh had arrested Basil Issa Ali Jamahiri, a member of the so-called “Saraya al-Jawad” cell linked to Suhail al-Hassan, and confiscated weapons and ammunition belonging to the group.

It stated that Jamahiri’s arrest is part of an ongoing security operation conducted by the Internal Security Command in Latakia Governorate against the “Saraya al-Jawad” cell in the village of Dweir Baabda, in the Jableh countryside.

The ministry indicated that during the investigation, Jamahiri confessed to hiding a cache of weapons and ammunition used by the criminal cell to target internal security and army sites. Based on his confessions, specialized teams were sent to the identified locations and successfully seized machine guns and various other ammunition, all of which were confiscated.

The ministry noted that the arrested individual has been handed over to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal proceedings.
