The name of Israeli pilot Ron Arad resurfaced early Saturday morning with an Israeli landing attempt at the cemetery in the town of Nabi Sheet in the Bekaa.

According to exclusive information obtained by Annahar, Israeli forces entered the town of Khraibeh in white vehicles. When digging began, their operation was discovered. During the attempt to withdraw, the Israeli forces killed several people who happened to be in the area, including some of Syrian nationality.

Information indicated that the clashes occurred at point-blank range, with fierce fighting from a distance of about one meter.

It was confirmed that the first landing target was the town’s cemeteries.

"An-Nahar" correspondent reported, citing eyewitnesses, that the fighting was extremely violent, sometimes happening at a distance of no more than a meter.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation "Kan" stated that Israeli army forces operated deep inside Lebanon last night in an attempt to locate remains of the missing soldier Ron Arad.

Israeli Channel 12 revealed that four helicopters had deployed a special forces unit in an attempt to retrieve Arad’s remains.

Annahar documented the landing operation that took place yesterday in the Nabi Sheet area of the Bekaa, which was accompanied by heavy raids.

The images showed the extensive destruction to buildings, cars, and shops in the town.

Hezbollah Statement

Hezbollah revealed details of the Israeli landing attempt, noting that at 10:30 p.m. on Friday night, four Israeli helicopters were observed infiltrating from the Syrian direction. They attempted to deploy an infantry force at the triangle of the borderlands of the towns of Yahfoufa, Khraibeh, and Ma’araboun.

The Israeli infantry advanced toward the eastern neighborhood of Nabi Sheet (the Al Shokr neighborhood), and upon reaching the cemetery at around 11:30 p.m., they engaged with a group using light and medium weapons, according to the Hezbollah statement.

The statement continued that “after the Israeli force was exposed, the clash escalated, and Israeli aircraft carried out about forty airstrikes to secure the withdrawal of the force from the engagement area.”

Meanwhile, the party explained that “artillery units conducted concentrated fire with appropriate weapons around the engagement area and along the path of the enemy force’s withdrawal, while residents of nearby villages participated in providing supporting fire.”

The Ministry of Public Health reported that “the renewed Israeli airstrikes on the town of Nabi Sheet in the Baalbek district resulted, in a preliminary total, in the deaths of 16 civilians and injuries to 35 others.”
