Senior official in the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Mohammed Al‑Ghaithi, announced that he arrived in Saudi Arabia with a delegation and that talks on Yemen would begin, after the STC had earlier said it had lost contact with its delegation.

Al-Ghaithi wrote in a post on X: “I arrived with colleagues from Aden to the city of Riyadh, and in a positive atmosphere a series of meetings will begin to prepare for a south-south dialogue under the sponsorship of our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

Earlier, the STC had announced a loss of contact with its delegation that headed to Riyadh for talks.

Meanwhile, Amr Al‑Beidh, a senior official in Yemen’s STC, said on Wednesday that the council’s president, Aidrous Al‑Zubaidi, decided not to travel to Riyadh to avoid creating a security vacuum in Aden.

He added that Al-Zubaidi is safe and currently in Aden, saying: “Aden remains under our control.”
