Regional War Pushes Lebanon and Syria Toward Security Coordination
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun received a phone call this afternoon, Tuesday, from Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, during which they discussed the current developments in the region.
The two presidents emphasized that the current delicate situation requires activating coordination and consultation between the two countries, particularly regarding the need to secure the borders and prevent any security breaches from any side, according to a statement from the Lebanese presidency.
During a video conference with several Middle Eastern leaders, at the invitation of the European Council and the European Commission, Ahmad al-Sharaa stressed his support for the Lebanese president on the issue of disarming Hezbollah.

Syria has mobilized its forces on the border with Lebanon as the Israeli war on Lebanon resumes, amid rising regional tensions and the ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Ahmad al-Sharaa warned that the current escalation poses an existential threat to the entire region, noting that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on energy infrastructure in the Gulf threaten global economic stability.
