The Israeli army spokesperson, Ella Wawieh, announced on her 'X' platform account that alerts have been activated in several areas in northern Israel following rocket launches from Lebanese territories.

The Israeli army threatened to respond forcefully to the rocket launch from Lebanon towards northern settlements, and has begun airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut and areas in southern Lebanon, issuing evacuation warnings to 53 towns.

Hezbollah claimed the rocket launch in a statement saying: "In retaliation for the pure blood of the Leader of the Muslims, His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Imam Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, who was unjustly and treacherously killed by the criminal Zionist enemy, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to repeated Israeli attacks, the Islamic Resistance targeted at midnight between Sunday and Monday, on the second of March 2026, with a barrage of high-precision rockets and a swarm of drones, the Mishmar HaKarmel missile defense site of the enemy's army south of the occupied city of Haifa.

"The Resistance leadership has always affirmed that the continuation of Israeli aggressions and the assassination of our leaders, youth, and people gives us the right to defend and respond at the appropriate time and place.

"The Israeli enemy cannot continue its aggression that has lasted fifteen months without receiving a warning response to stop this aggression and withdraw from the occupied Lebanese territories.

"This response is a legitimate defensive action and responsible parties must put an end to the Israeli-American aggression on Lebanon."

The Mayor of Haifa said, "The rocket launches from Lebanon are a development that requires immediate attention and resolution."

Israeli channel 12 reported that about six rockets were launched from Lebanese territories in the latest barrage of rockets.

Israel's Broadcasting Authority quoted senior security officials saying, "The rocket launches from Lebanon will be met with a strong response."

An exodus has begun from southern towns following rocket launches from Lebanese territories.

Israel's Broadcasting Authority, Kan, said that "3 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon, specifically from the area south of the Litani River," and that "the rockets were launched from an area the Lebanese government has officially declared as demilitarized and under the control of the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces."
