Syria and kurdish-led forces reach ceasefire and integration deal

The Syrian Democratic Forces announced a comprehensive agreement to halt the ceasefire with the Syrian government, which includes an understanding on a phased process to integrate military and administrative forces between the two sides.

A Syrian government official told Reuters that a final agreement had been reached with the Syrian Democratic Forces and that it would be implemented immediately.

 

According to an SDF statement, the agreement includes:

⭕ Withdrawal of military forces from contact lines and the entry of Internal Security Forces into the centers of the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli, and the start of the process of integrating security forces in the region.
⭕ Integration of self-administration institutions within Syrian state institutions, with the stabilization of civil employees.
⭕ Settlement of the civil and educational rights of the Kurdish people and ensuring the return of displaced persons to their areas.
⭕The agreement aims to unify Syrian territory and achieve full integration in the region by strengthening cooperation among the concerned parties and unifying efforts to rebuild the country.

For its part, the Syrian government announced the terms of the agreement with the SDF as follows:

⭕ A ceasefire with the SDF and an understanding on a phased integration process.
⭕ Entry of security forces affiliated with the Ministry of Interior into the centers of the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli.
⭕ Withdrawal of military forces from contact lines and the entry of security forces into the centers of Hasakah and Qamishli.

⭕ Integration of self-administration institutions within Syrian state institutions, with the stabilization of civil employees
⭕ Settling civil and educational rights for the Kurdish community and ensuring the return of displaced persons to their areas
⭕ The agreement aims to unify Syrian territories, enforce the law, and achieve full integration in the region

⭕Formation of a division consisting of three brigades from the SDF and one brigade from the Ayn al-Arab Kobani forces within a division affiliated with Aleppo.

In turn, the US envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, welcomed the agreement between the Syrian government and the Kurdish forces, which stipulates the gradual integration of Kurdish military and civilian institutions into state institutions, praising the “courageous steps” taken by both sides.

In a post on the X platform, Barrack described the agreement, which comes after weeks of clashes between government and Kurdish forces, as a “profound and historic turning point in Syria’s path toward national reconciliation, unity, and lasting stability”.

 

 

Sources also told SANA that Brigadier General Marwan al-Ali had been appointed commander of Internal Security in Hasakah.
