Qatar warns of catastrophic consequences from US-Iran escalation

On Tuesday, Qatar warned of “catastrophic” consequences for the region in the event of any U.S.-Iran military escalation, amid Washington’s threats of intervention as the Islamic Republic cracks down on ongoing protests.

Responding to a question from Agence France-Presse about the mutual military threats between Tehran and Washington, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid Al-Ansari said at a press conference: “We are aware that any escalation would have catastrophic consequences in the region and beyond, and therefore we want to avoid it as much as possible.”
