Syria: One killed in drone strike on Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood
One person was killed and two others injured on Tuesday in drone strikes targeting the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, according to internal security forces.
Sources from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the attack sparked panic among residents, amid fears of renewed strikes and the growing threat to civilians, particularly in densely populated residential areas.
The incident comes amid ongoing security tensions in Aleppo, where aerial attacks are reported intermittently. Residents have renewed calls for the demilitarization of civilian neighborhoods to reduce the risk to lives.
Earlier, a suicide drone reportedly belonging to Syrian government forces struck the vicinity of a stone quarry and a waste dump in the al-Shaqif neighborhood adjacent to Sheikh Maqsoud, injuring two civilians. They were transferred to a nearby hospital as medical teams declared an alert in the area.
According to the Observatory, the explosion caused limited material damage at the targeted site, with no fatalities reported at the time. No additional injuries were recorded among workers or passersby.
