U.S. President Donald Trump renewed his threats against Tehran, asserting that his country would return to war with greater force if Iran does not comply with the two-week temporary truce announced by Pakistan on Wednesday. He noted that "the great U.S. military is taking a break to prepare for the next battle."

U.S. officials told the Wall Street Journal that Iran's insistence on controlling the Strait of Hormuz could lead to a resumption of fighting.

The newspaper quoted the officials as saying that "Trump will not make major concessions to Iran to reopen the strait," adding that they do not rule out the possibility of renewed conflict.

Meanwhile, the New York Times, citing navigation data, reported that the Strait of Hormuz is "largely closed."

On the ground, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard hinted at the possibility of laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, announcing alternative routes for ships and urging compliance with them, amid warnings about dangers along the usual navigation routes.

Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the intensity of Trump’s rhetoric was a decisive factor in reaching an agreement with Iran. She noted that Iran’s initial proposal “was unacceptable and was abandoned,” and that U.S. pressure pushed Tehran to make concessions, including agreeing to reopen the strait.

Leavitt added that Trump believes “the operation in Iran has achieved its objectives,” considering that the United States “has accomplished its main goals and crushed Iran’s weapons-making capability,” and that Tehran “can no longer support its allies as before.” She described the ceasefire as “a victory for the United States,” while emphasizing that “Trump’s red lines on Iran have not changed.”

In contrast, the British Foreign Office stressed that Iran’s control over freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is “unacceptable,” affirming that passage through the strait must remain free.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that the United States achieved a decisive military victory over Iran and that Tehran begged Washington for the ceasefire.

Similarly, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance emphasized that Iran must approach the negotiating table seriously, stressing the need for it to take the next step, while warning that President Donald Trump has multiple options at his disposal.
