Lebanese Forces party official Pierre Mouawad and his wife Flavia Joseph Mourad, along with a third woman, were killed in an Israeli strike on an apartment in the hills of Ain Saadeh, Metn, raising serious questions about the nature of the attacks, the safety of residential areas, and the measures taken by local municipalities.
The media department of the Lebanese Forces party emphasized “the necessity of taking procedures and measures to prevent the infiltration or presence of illegal armed elements within residential neighborhoods, as this directly endangers civilians’ lives by attracting military targets, leading to the loss of innocent victims who have no connection to ongoing military operations.”
The media department noted that “these areas constitute, de facto, safe havens not only for their residents but also for those displaced to them, necessitating the provision of the highest levels of protection and stability.”
It stressed that “the protection of citizens is an absolute priority. Therefore, municipalities bear the responsibility to fully perform their role as outlined in the municipal law, in full cooperation and coordination with the Internal Security Forces.”
