Sports writer Fabrizio Romano has announced that Barcelona has opened talks to sign 17-year-old Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim from Al Ahly.

The young talent impressed at the Under-17 World Cup, and Barcelona have reportedly been monitoring him for some time, recognizing his potential and skill.

Romano clarified that the deal is intended for Barcelona Atlètic (the club’s second team), rather than the first team, with a view to gradually developing Hamza into a future star.

Sources close to Abdel Karim have revealed that he is eager to join Barcelona, viewing the move as a personal dream, despite Al Ahly’s desire to retain one of Egypt’s and Africa’s most promising talents.
Discussions are ongoing between the player and the club.
