Seven members of the 'Popular Mobilization Forces' were killed early Tuesday morning in an airstrike on their operations base in Anbar province in western Iraq, according to a PMF source cited by AFP, attributing the strike to the United States.

A PMF source told AFP about "7 dead, including the PMF operations commander (in Anbar) along with his assistant and several of his guards (...) and 13 wounded in an American strike on a PMF operations base at the Habbaniyah base in Anbar province."

The strike occurred during "a meeting involving leaders, with some still under the rubble," according to the same source.

A security official stated that "the wounded were transported to Khalidiya Hospital, while mosques are calling on the residents of Khalidiya to donate blood."

The General Authority of the 'Popular Mobilization Forces,' in a statement this morning, mentioned "the martyrdom of Anbar Operations commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Saad Dawai al-Baiji, along with a group of heroic companions, following a treacherous American airstrike on the command headquarters during their national duty."

In today's statement, the 'Popular Mobilization Forces' added: "We hold the political forces fully responsible for standing against these repeated American violations and taking clear and firm positions to protect the country's sovereignty and put a stop to these grave transgressions."

Iran-backed Iraqi factions with brigades in the Popular Mobilization Forces, part of what is known as the 'Islamic Resistance in Iraq,' claim responsibility for daily drone and missile attacks on 'enemy bases' in Iraq and the region.

Conversely, the Pentagon acknowledged for the first time on Thursday that combat helicopters conducted raids against Iran-aligned factions in Iraq.
