The spokesperson for the Iranian government, Fatemeh Mohajerani, confirmed today, Tuesday, that university students have the right to protest, but should not cross "red lines," in the first official reaction to the renewed protests at Iranian universities since the end of the week.

Mohajerani said, "Holy sites and knowledge are examples of these red lines that we must protect and not cross or deviate from, even at the height of anger."

 

Regarding the third round of negotiations expected to be held on Thursday in Geneva, she said, "We prefer diplomacy, but we will use deterrence tools to prevent any miscalculation."
