The Israeli army claims to have thwarted the activity of a cell in the West Bank that was coordinated with elements in Lebanon. It said members of the cell were instructed to photograph a town in the Samaria area and carried out shooting practice in preparation for a sabotage operation.

It claimed that in late October, an individual identified as Mohammad Sadaqa, a resident of the village of Anza in Samaria, was arrested and transferred for interrogation by the Shin Bet on suspicion of planning sabotage. During the investigation, the army said it was revealed that Sadaqa had traveled to Lebanon, where he was recruited by a figure named Moussa Abu Saif, nicknamed “Gibreel,” to carry out activities in Judea and Samaria and recruit members to form armed cells.

It added that after returning from Lebanon to Judea and Samaria via Jordan, Sadaqa recruited several others, including Mohammad Khalil from Ramallah and Mohammad Barahmeh from Anza, who were also arrested and investigated by the Shin Bet.

The army said the investigation found that Sadaqa continued communicating with the Lebanese group via social media and a gaming application until his arrest.
