SDF delays commander’s visit to Damascus over "technical reasons"
In a statement, the SDF said Mazloum Abdi, who leads the U.S.-backed, Kurdish-led force controlling much of northeastern Syria, was scheduled to travel to the Syrian capital today alongside a negotiating delegation representing northern and eastern Syria.
The visit, however, was delayed due to logistical and technical arrangements.
It added that a new date for the visit will be set at a later time, to be agreed upon by all relevant parties.
The SDF also stressed that the delay was due to logistical and technical arrangements related to the visit and does not signal any change in the course of communication or in the objectives of the talks.

The statement came days after the Syrian Democratic Forces said an understanding had been reached on integrating its forces into the Syrian national army. However, the group reiterated its commitment to a decentralized system of governance, an approach fundamentally rejected by Damascus and called for northeastern regions such as Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor to be administered self-governance.
