South Korea Steps In with $2 Million Relief for Lebanon’s Displaced Population
South Korea Pledges $2 Million in Emergency Aid to Support Displaced in Lebanon
The Government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide USD 2 million in emergency humanitarian assistance to Lebanon in response to the humanitarian needs in Lebanon.
This contribution reflects the Republic of Korea’s commitment to supporting those affected by the crisis, particularly the growing number of Lebanese internally displaced persons (IDPs) facing deteriorating living conditions.
“Korea stands in unwavering solidarity with the Lebanese people during this challenging time. We are providing immediate emergency assistance to address urgent humanitarian needs, reflecting our deep commitment partners, we pledge continued support to help Lebanon overcome these difficulties and build a brighter future”, said H.E. Gyusuk Geon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Lebanon.
The assistance will be delivered through key United Nations agencies, including UNICEF (USD 1 million) and UNHCR (USD 600,000), to ensure a timely and effective response on the ground. Furthermore, KRW 600 million of the assistance will be financed through an emergency overseas assistance program of the Korea International Cooperation Agency ‘s RAPID (Responsive Actions and Partnership Initiative for Disaster Program).
The Government of the Republic of Korea reaffirms its solidarity with the people of Lebanon during this challenging time and remains committed to contributing to international efforts aimed at alleviating humanitarian suffering and promoting stability in the region.
