The French presidential envoy to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Le Drian, said on Wednesday that "it is unreasonable to expect the Lebanese government to disarm Hezbollah while the country is being bombarded by Israel," adding that "negotiations are the only way to resolve the crisis."

Le Drian told France Info radio: "Israel occupied Lebanon for a very long time and was unable to eliminate Hezbollah's military capabilities… so now it cannot ask the Lebanese government to undertake this task within three days under bombardment."
