The effects of Israeli airstrikes on Beirut (Houssam Shbaro)
A wave of fear is sweeping through all Lebanese regions due to the infiltration of party members or leadership cadres from Hezbollah into residential apartments, as well as into refugee gatherings, following intensified raids by Israeli drones on apartments targeting party members, as well as allies like the Islamic Group and Hamas.
This wave has reached its utmost severity after deadly pursuits began to penetrate areas far from the operations zone, such as Nabaa, Borj Hammoud, and Bar Elias, following the Israeli warplanes targeting areas in the heart of Beirut and previously targeting party members within refugee gatherings in Ramlet el-Bayda and Aramoun.

This dangerous aspect of exposing civilians and residential apartments to devastating and deadly raids warns of the worst consequences of war. It will primarily lead to a widespread refusal to shelter refugees and cause problems and clashes between host communities and refugees due to fear of infiltration or harboring party members in apartments or civilian gatherings. While Israel commits the most severe violation of international law by targeting civilians, Lebanese people bear the bloody cost of deadly pursuits between Israel and the party across residential areas and hotels—a phenomenon rarely seen in any other war worldwide, marked by such bloody and criminal disregard for the safety of people and civilians from both sides of the confrontation.
So where is the state and its agencies amidst all this horror? Are the measures taken by municipalities, limited to merely registering whoever can be registered, sufficient when the infiltrators use all means to hide and turn into bombs exploding among the innocent?
