On the second day of the renewed war in Lebanon, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz approved further military movement into Lebanese territory, stating that “the army will control additional areas in Lebanon to protect the north.”
Katz said today, “We have approved allowing the army to advance and control additional strategic areas within Lebanon,” noting that “the Israeli army continues its intensive operations against Hezbollah.”
In this context, Israel's Broadcasting Authority announced that Israeli ground forces have entered southern Lebanon.
In the first official comment on the Israeli incursion, a Lebanese official told Reuters that "Israeli forces are conducting incursions across parts of the border with Lebanon," while witnesses told the agency that "the Lebanese army has withdrawn from at least seven forward positions along the border."
Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced that Brigade 91 is deployed to several strategic points in southern Lebanon as part of “strengthening the forward defense system.”
Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee said on the “X” platform: “In parallel with the army’s activities as part of Operation "Lion’s Roar," Brigade 91 is currently operating in southern Lebanon and positioned at several strategic points in the area, as part of strengthening the forward defense system.”
He added, “The army is creating an additional security layer for the residents of the north by carrying out extensive strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure to thwart threats and prevent any infiltration into Israeli territory.”
Adraee also noted that “Hezbollah has chosen to join the battle and act under Iran’s guidance and will bear the consequences of its actions,” saying, “The army will not allow harm to Israeli citizens and will continue to operate by all means to defend them.”
Ongoing airstrikes
This morning, the Israeli Air Force carried out a series of strikes targeting Kharayeb and the area between Aadchit, Al-Qusaibah, Chehour, and Kfar Tebnit.
Hezbollah Operations
Hezbollah announced three operations against Israeli targets today, coinciding with intensive Israeli airstrikes that hit southern suburb of Beirut in the early morning hours.
In three statements, Hezbollah said that “in response to the Israeli aggression targeting dozens of Lebanese towns and cities, including the southern suburbs of Beirut,” the group used attack drones to strike Ramat David Airbase and the Meron Air Operations and Monitoring Base in northern Israel.
It also launched a rocket attack on the Nafah base in the occupied Golan Heights.
