Qatari official to visit Beirut, announce aid package for Lebanon
Annahar has learned that Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi will arrive in Beirut next Monday on an official visit, during which he is scheduled to meet the three presidents.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam will also host a luncheon in his honor.
According to the information, Al-Khulaifi is expected to announce a package of Qatari aid covering several sectors, particularly education, health and energy. The move comes as Lebanon has requested Qatar’s assistance in procuring natural gas.
The information indicates that the most significant aspect of the visit will be the announcement of support for the Lebanese Army, at a time when it has been agreed that the preparatory conference for the Paris meeting, scheduled for March 5, will serve as a key milestone in this context.
