The Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, welcomed Saudi Ambassador Waleed Bukhari to Dar al-Fatwa, where they discussed the current situation in Lebanon.

The media office at Dar al-Fatwa reported that the meeting emphasized support for the Lebanese army and its role in controlling weapons and deploying in the south.

Such efforts strengthen the state’s sovereignty over its territory, serve as the primary security and military guarantee for protecting national borders, and help restore public confidence. The army’s presence also fosters stability among citizens and accelerates reconstruction with international support.

The meeting emphasized that Lebanon’s recovery and revival can only be achieved by ensuring all weapons are under state control across the country, completing necessary reforms, supporting the presidency and the government, accelerating the implementation of the ministerial agenda, meeting deadlines, upholding the constitution and the Taif Agreement, and reinforcing the unity of the Lebanese people.

Bukhari expressed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Lebanon’s security and stability, emphasizing support for the state, its institutions, and its people.

He stated, “We will not abandon our support and brotherly role toward our brethren,” and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s strong ties with Dar al-Fatwa in addressing both Islamic and national matters.

Daryan expressed hope for “achieving a political and security settlement,” while commending “the work of the Quintet Committee and its distinguished efforts to help Lebanon navigate its crises and prevent the risks of Israeli aggression from spreading across its territories.”
