Yemen: Hadhramaut governor launches "Camp Handover" operation to secure military sites and protect civilians

The governor of Hadhramaut province and general commander of the National Shield Forces in the region, Salem Al-Khanbashi, announced on Friday the launch of the “Camp Handover” operation, aimed at the peaceful and organized transfer of military sites, focusing exclusively on camps and military facilities.

 

 

Al-Khanbashi stressed in his statement that the operation does not target any political or social group, nor does it affect civilians or disrupt the daily lives or interests of the public in any way.

 

He explained that the operation is neither a declaration of war nor an attempt to escalate tensions, but rather a responsible preventive measure “aimed at removing weapons from chaos, preventing camps from being used to threaten the security of Hadhramaut and its people, and protecting the province from dangerous scenarios that serve instability and the enemies of the state.”

 

He added: “Our province is currently going through a delicate and sensitive phase that requires the highest level of responsibility, full transparency with public opinion, and courageous decisions whose primary goal is to protect lives, uphold security, and preserve state institutions.”

Al-Khanbashi called on the Sheikhs of Hadhramaut, its dignitaries, social figures, tribal leaders, and all active members of society to assume their national and historic responsibility during this critical phase, supporting the state in maintaining security, safeguarding its institutions, and preventing society from descending into unrest or division.
