Lebanon’s crisis deepens: Hezbollah’s deadly, suicidal leap
The illusions that dominated the impressions of most Lebanese, reflecting their wagers at the start of the ongoing war that Hezbollah intentionally and deliberately involved Lebanon in—with previously prepared plans for a long time, as evidenced by all field and intelligence evidence—no longer easily flow into their minds after the first ten days of a war with no end in sight.
Regardless of the unprecedented media and political criticism campaigns in recent days between Beirut and Washington aimed at the Lebanese Army leadership and its commander, the field realities have continued to deepen a significant shock that expands dangerously with each passing day of this war, which threatens to become one of the most destructive wars for Lebanon, under the relentless pressure of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, using Hezbollah until the last fighter as an advanced bastion defending the crumbling Iranian regime.
The overwhelming Lebanese shock from seeing Hezbollah dragging its sect, its areas, and other areas of Lebanon into renewed destruction has become futile and pointless, given the party's ideology and suicidal tendencies, dragging its followers into more misery . The greater shock has now drifted to the most dangerous location, deep within the longest-standing and historical Lebanese beliefs: the absolute faith that the state, with its essential tool and legitimate support—the army—is on the brink of collapsing, the greatest wager placed upon it to deliver a decisive, final end to the last series of destructive invasions of the country.
The shock reached its terrifying limit in light of the field realities of the war's first phase, where a catastrophic equation emerged, embodying the withdrawal of the army from south of the Litani in exchange for Hezbollah's complete invasion, turning it into a platform for launching different calibers and types of Iranian missiles toward Israel.
If there is a logical explanation for the wide escalation and confrontation in recent hours under the operation called "Eaten Harvest," jointly carried out by the party and its commanders in the Revolutionary Guard in Lebanon and Tehran, it is that the Iranian regime is facing its most dangerous phase in confronting American and Israeli strikes. This explains the intense push of its most advanced arm at the borders with Israel in southern Lebanon. The party has undoubtedly shown that since its inception, its first and primary function was for Iranian exploitation, attack, employment, and defense, reaching its apex now in the deadly, suicidal leap that began with igniting a war in support of Iran—one that definitely will not end according to the rhythm of the war on Iran, but rather on the timeline set by the Israelis themselves.
However, the worst aspect of the ongoing suicide led by Hezbollah is the growing fear of an internal loss of trust in the state, following the undeniable collapse of external trust, on the backdrop of the exposure of the huge gap between the "historic" sovereign cabinet decisions and the modest size and rhythm of their ground achievements.
This gap can no longer be bridged by a traditional, automatic defense of the army, while Hezbollah embarks on the far more dangerous strategy of intimidating the army’s ranks and inventing methods of terror through sectarian and divisive sedition across the country. This exploitation of internal division, turning widespread disappointment in the army into a tool for destructive chaos, places the political authority under a major and historically exceptional decisive test: either to save Lebanon from the clutches of suicidal elements, or to allow them to succeed in their deadly internal mission—even if defeated by Israel.
