Britain, through its Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, on Friday called for a “swift resolution” to the war in the Middle East, accusing Tehran of holding the global economy hostage by disrupting navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Cooper said on the sidelines of a G7 ministerial meeting in France, “We are very clear that we want to see a swift resolution to this conflict that restores regional stability.”

 

She added, “Iran cannot be allowed to hold the global economy hostage through the vital Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for international shipping routes and freedom of navigation.”
