Trump warns US could intervene if Iran kills peaceful protesters
In response to protests in Iran that have resulted in several deaths, U.S. President Donald Trump warned on Friday that “if Iran shoots peaceful protesters and kills them, the United States will intervene to save them.”
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump added: “We are on standby and ready to go.”
Iranian media and human rights organizations reported on Thursday that several people were killed during unrest across the country, following the largest protests in Iran in three years amid rising inflation.
The semi-official Fars News Agency and the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported fatalities in the city of Lordegan in western Iran. Authorities confirmed one death in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, while Hengaw reported another death in Isfahan province in central Iran.

Trump’s remarks prompted an official Iranian response. Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said that “Trump must realize that U.S. intervention in internal protests means spreading chaos throughout the entire region.”
Larijani added: “The American people should know that Trump is the one who started this adventure, and they should beware for their soldiers.”
