Greece provides fuel, fertilizer, and ferry support to ease energy price hike

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Monday that the country will provide support for fuel and fertilizers, as well as discounts on ferry tickets, totaling 300 million euros (346 million dollars) during April and May. The measures aim to ease the burden of rising energy prices caused by the conflict in Iran on consumers and farmers.
This month, the government also imposed a three-month cap on profit margins for fuel and dozens of consumer products to prevent any exploitation.
On Monday, Mitsotakis announced a 16-cent per liter support for diesel and fuel vouchers that around three million consumers can use at gas stations.
In a televised speech, he said, "Our goal is to prevent rising costs from being passed on to consumer goods."
He added that farmers will also receive a 15 percent subsidy for purchasing fertilizers, while ferry operators will be compensated by the government for offering discounts and helping contain transportation costs.
