SpaceX’s Starlink expands its satellite-based connectivity to the UAE
Starlink, the satellite internet service developed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is now officially available in the United Arab Emirates, adding a new connectivity solution to a market largely dominated by fibre-optic and mobile networks.
The Availability Map on Starlink’s official website now shows the UAE in a clear blue color, confirming its services’ current availability in the country.

Unlike traditional internet providers, which rely on fibre and mobile infrastructure, Starlink operates through a network of low-Earth orbit satellites in order to deliver faster speeds and lower latency than traditional satellite internet. In contrast to 5G or broadband internet, satellite internet does not depend on mobile towers or high-speed data lines for connectivity, making connection possible in remote areas, including desert regions, offshore sites, and temporary setups.
In August, the UAE's Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority announced it was looking at new regulations that would pave the way for satellite operators such as Starlink to begin operations in the country. It was also announced last November that Emirates airline would install Starlink on its fleet.
The service could be accessed via the purchase of one of Starlink’s hardware kits, and installed by users with no professional assistance or fixed-line infrastructure needed.
