Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, head of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat in the UAE, met with Sheikh Osama Abdul Karim Al-Rifai, head of the Supreme Fatwa Council and Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic, on the sidelines of the Syrian-Emirati Investment Forum held in Damascus, which was attended by several officials from both sides.

During the meeting, they discussed several topics related to issuing moderate fatwas that address people’s needs and diverse issues with wisdom, moderation, and ease. These fatwas contribute to building a cohesive society founded on mutual respect and cooperation among its members, while countering extremist ideas that lead to division and hatred.

Both sides emphasized that cooperation between religious institutions and scholars contributes to unifying efforts and exchanging expertise. It also helps in issuing well-considered fatwas that reflect Islamic civilization and its understanding of contemporary developments, while preserving religious values and constants.
