The evening featured 32 musicians from the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir, along with 30 musicians from the “Fontane di Roma” Orchestra, conducted by the Italian maestro Marcello Rota. Saudi, Italian, and international musical works were presented in a joint performance reflecting the cultural exchange between the two countries.

The concert included performances of traditional Saudi performing arts, such as “Ardah Wadi Al-Dawasir,” “Fann Al-Khatwa,” and “Al-Fann Al-Yanboua’i,” featuring 55 performers, to highlight Saudi cultural and artistic diversity to a global audience.

An instrumental piece titled “The Siege and Rome,” with lyrics by researcher and historian Sulaiman Al-Dhaib, was presented, inspired by the civilizational links between Saudi Arabia and Italy, reflecting the idea of cultural dialogue between the two civilizations through music.

Bocelli: Music Is a language that transcends borders

Andrea Bocelli said that singing near the Colosseum always evokes “exceptional feelings,” noting that his participation with the Saudi Orchestra added a “distinctive character” to the evening, and emphasizing that music remains “a language capable of transcending borders.”

Meanwhile, the CEO of the Music Authority, Paul Pacifico, described the concert in Rome as an “exceptional milestone” in Saudi music’s journey, while the CEO of the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Alwan, said the evening reflects the presence of Saudi culture on the international stage.

The Rome concert is part of the “Saudi Orchestra Masterpieces” tour series, aimed at enhancing Saudi cultural presence globally and introducing the Kingdom’s musical and artistic heritage to an international audience.
