Israeli officials stated on Thursday that “the proposed agreement between the United States and Iran might leave Iran’s missile arsenal intact and ease financial pressure on Tehran,” as reported by the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

They noted that “most of the Israeli defense establishment supports continuing the embargo on Iran,” considering that “the agreement would be detrimental because Iran is expected to breach it from the outset.”

The officials also saw the proposed agreement as “a lifeline for the Iranian regime while every passing day brings them closer to collapse.”

They mentioned that “Israel is disappointed because the agreement will limit uranium enrichment for only 15 years, requiring Iran to wait and then seek to build a nuclear bomb when President Donald Trump is out of office.”

In the Lebanese context, officials pointed out that “the proposed agreement might limit the Israeli army’s freedom of operation in Lebanon.”

Trump said on Wednesday that reaching an agreement with Iran to end the war in the Middle East is “very possible,” but he did not rule out resuming strikes.

Trump added to reporters that the United States "had very good talks with Iran over the past 24 hours."

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused Washington of trying to push Tehran into "surrender."
