Lebanon's Prime Minister Nawaf Salam outlines conditions for engaging in talks with Israel, signaling a cautious approach to diplomatic relations.

 

He emphasized in a conversation with journalists that “any high-level meeting with the Israeli side requires extensive preparation.”

Salam clarified that Lebanon does not seek “normalization with Israel, but rather achieving peace,” reminding that this is not the first time Lebanon has entered into direct negotiations with Israel.

 

He pointed out that establishing a ceasefire will form the basis for any new round of negotiations that may be held in Washington, reiterating that the current conditions are not yet mature enough to discuss high-level meetings.

 

He stated, “The minimum of our demands is a timeline for Israel’s withdrawal, and we will develop a plan to limit weapons to state control.”
