وفاة جورج فلويد تشعل احتجاجات ضدّ "وحشية" الشرطة الأميركيّة... والمشاهير يدعمون القضيّة
"لا أستطيع التنفس"، تلك كانت آخر كلمات جورج فلويد وهو يكافح للتنفس على الأرض، بينما وضع شرطي ركبتيه على عنق المواطن الأميريكي "أسمر البشرة" عند تواجده أسفل سيّارة.
توفي جورج فلويد (46 عاماً)، مساء 25 أيار، في مدينة مينابوليس، أكبر مدن ولاية مينيسوتا الأميركية على يد عناصر الشرطة الذين ألقوا القبض عليه للاشتباه في عمليّة تزوير. وقد وثق شريط مصوّر المشهد بينما كان شرطي يثبت فلويد أرضاً ضاغطاً بإحدى ركبتيه على عنقه، ما أسفر عن وفاته اختناقاً.
وأشعل مقطع الفيديو مواقع التواصل الاجتماعيّ وتجمّع آلاف الأشخاص في شوارع عدّة مدن رئيسيّة أميركيّة احتجاجاً على مقتل فلويد على يد شرطي "أبيض البشرة"، وللتعبير عن غضبهم تجاه "وحشيّة" الشرطة.
واندلعت موجة من التظاهرات الاحتجاجية التي شابتها أعمال عنف ونهب للمباني التي أضرمت فيها النيران، بينما اشتبك المتظاهرون مع أفراد الشرطة الذين أطلقوا القنابل المسيلة للدموع لتفريق المتظاهرين، وألقوا القبض على بعض الأفراد، وفقاً لموقع "ديلي ميل" البريطاني.
