U.S. ambassador praises Beirut Port scanners, calls for end to smuggling
The U.S. ambassador to Lebanon toured Beirut Port as part of a series of inspections aimed at supporting transparency, security, and the restoration of normal port operations.

The U.S. Ambassador to Beirut, Michel Issa, toured Beirut Port today, Thursday, after inspecting Electricité du Liban yesterday.
In a statement following the port tour, Issa said: “The pace of work is fast, and the scanner machines operate the port at a world-class level. I am proud to be here.” He added that “we must return to normal operations, funds should go back to the state treasury, and there should be no smuggling.”
Issa emphasized the importance of the port’s scanners for its operations, affirming his readiness “to inspect any location that requires inspection.”
He also confirmed that “the United States wants to support the Lebanese Army and all Lebanese interests.”
