Video and Photos: Israeli airstrikes hit southern and eastern Lebanon following Lebanese Army disarmament announcement
Following the Lebanese Army leadership’s confirmation of achieving the objectives of the first phase of the disarmament plan, particularly south of the Litani River, and the Lebanese government’s announcement that the army will prepare a plan to withdraw weapons north of the Litani to be presented next February, Israeli aircraft launched strikes on targets they claimed belonged to Hezbollah in multiple areas of southern and eastern Lebanon.
The strikes reportedly targeted areas between Sojoud and Rayhan, between Kfarfila and Ain Qana, and between Houmine El-Faouqa and Deir Ez-Zahrani.
Airstrikes were also reported around Brital in the Bekaa Valley, eastern Lebanon.
Channel 12 cited a senior Israeli official as saying, “It’s only a matter of time before a major operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon.”
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the Lebanese army’s statement regarding the first phase of the disarmament plan, noting that “the efforts made by the Lebanese government and the army to disarm Hezbollah are encouraging but insufficient.”
