With Lebanon’s precarious economic condition taking its toll on working families, Saint Joseph University (USJ) has sounded the alarm over its ability to provide support for its student body.

USJ has a long tradition of caring for and catering to struggling families, providing financial aid to 40 percent of its student body annually through scholarships.

The unprecedented financial crisis that Lebanon is facing is heavily weighing on both the university and its students.

25% of students could not afford to pay the second installment of their tuition, and projections for the upcoming term are even bleaker.

Today, USJ’s financial stability is at risk in the face of this mounting crisis.

USJ is, therefore, launching the fundraising campaign "Donate to Educate", a global effort aimed at collecting 2,020 scholarships for USJ students, so that they may pursue their studies despite the current crisis.

Donors can choose to either sponsor a student (annual tuition fee = $15,000); INSERT INTO articles (articleId, timestamp, date, title, teaser, slug, status, primaryCategory, description, authorId, sourceId, url, lastUpdate, hasImage, contents, summary) VALUES participate in the sponsorship of a student or make a one-time gift or a recurring donation in several installments.

“Contribution in any amount will make a difference”, the university said in a statement.

“Although 2020 begins with uncertainty, we are confident that, with your support, we shall overcome the challenges ahead.”
