What a day! I am overwhelmed with emotions. My human parents had shared the news with me on our way to the store and in that moment, I knewthat justice will finally be served. Speaking of something being served… Mom, where is my lunch? Can my friends come over for a play date? I cannot wait to see their reaction when I tell them the news. We can finally play outside with no fear of being shooed away, hit by pebbles, shot, or poisoned by some evil men.
I lost some of my best friends to poison. A true massacre! But who’s to blame? Their human parents for dumping them the minute

they realized they were not going to stay small forever, or the heartless men who had poisoned them? “Strays should be put down!” I once heard an evil man say that on TV. “They are infested with fleas and other diseases. They are a true danger.” Well, the only danger I see is you, humans.
You force us to breed. You lock us in cages. You chain us outside in cold and hot weathers. You hit us. You hunt us down. You starve us. You abandon us when we need you the most. You disfigure our tiny bodies. You make us do dangerous stunts for your entertainment. You sell us like toys, and worst of all, if you cannot sell us, you get rid of us like expired goods.
Few are the ones who are as lucky as I am to have a family, a safe haven, food, water, and a vet for regular checkups. Maybe not all humans are bad after all. Some do care. Some are actually aware that we, just like you, have a soul.
To all my animal friends, whose lives were wasted in vain, today we celebrate you.
