نشر المصور الفوتوغرافي كريستوفر ماثيوز في حسابه بفيسبوك، صورة توثق ظهور الشفق القطبي فوق بركان فاغرادالسفيال الثائر في آيسلندا. وأظهرت الصورة بروز اللون الأخضر المميز للشفق القطبي فوق اللون الأحمر الناري المختلط بالدخان، نتيجة الثوران الهائل للبركان في الأيام الماضية.
وكتب ماثيوز في منشور له "تعرف آيسلندا بالتأكيد كيف تقيم حفلة عيد ميلاد"، في إشارة إلى احتفاله بعيد ميلاده بالتزامن مع ثوران البركان.
ولاقت الصورة رواجاً واسعاً في منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، إذ أثنى المستخدمون على جمال الصورة، وطريقة التقاطها، مشيدين بها على أنها بمنزلة لوحة مرسومة وليست صورة ملتقطة بكاميرا.
